It never gets old

I’ve just finished teaching my gazillenth membership class at Southbrook.

What a great group! I can honestly tell you that it never gets old and the people tell me that they love it every time.

I wonder if they know that it’s as fun for me as it is for them.

Know why?

Because every time  I teach it I am reminded of how big our God is and of all the miraculous things he’s done at Southbrook Church in our short little history!

Like this little tidbit…

Last year we saw just over 300 people give their lives to Jesus Christ.

This year we’ve already seen over 400 come to know Him and the year is not even half over yet!!

God is doing great things through those who are fully sold out to Him at SCC!

I love you guys and I love being your pastor!

Just thought you might want to know.

We find it amazing how all of us, with our different personalities, different backgrounds, most of us from different states, have all come together in this place called, “church”. The one thing that binds us together is our hunger and love for God.

It must be so humbling and at the same time amazing, to be a vessel, Rob, and watch all of this going on around you. In this place called, “church”.

Thank you for being so open and available to God’s plan and the vision you share with Him. You and your family make alot of sacrifices to carry out God’s calling.

We can understand the joy it must bring you to see all of the new faces in the 101’s. This is such and exiting time at Southbrook! But, hasn’t it always been that way? Exciting? We know it has been that way for us!

We love having you as our Pastor too!
With Grateful Hearts,
Janie and Steve

Well you know what Pastor Rob,

If you love being our pastor, just know that it is going right back at ya babe…. I think it is safe to say there are a lot of us that love the fact you are our Pastor.

Some Pastors may get upset when I say out loud, “Sorry Pastor Rob, we are not members of Southbrook just because you are a great guy”. You already know it is not all about you, that is not even hit to your ego, you know it is all about God and the vision he has for Southbrook. You are a leader that God has given a mission to and un-like the armed forces, we do not have to follow you, we chose to follow you, support Southbrook, and support the direction God wants you to move Southbrook towards.

As you noted in today’s service, “it is like there is a church on every corner here in Charlotte…” I checked today after the service and my wife and I have possibly 100 churches within a 5 mile radius of our home that we could attend. Expand that to 15 miles and it jumps to over 2,000.

For those that do not think Southbrook is the place for them, no hard feelings, we wish you the best as you try and find a Church home and pray that God helps you find a place where you feel you belong and most important can serve and put him as your first priority.

At the end of the day it is not about the Church building, the youth program, the music, the coffee, or even that the Pastor. It is about helping others come to know Jesus Christ and all members of the Church growing in and serving God. That message is at the heart of Southbrook and when the heart is putting out that word, the Church as a body will remain healthy in purpose and direction.

You are our Pastor and when it comes to the Church as a body, you are our heart specialist that ensures the message is what it needs to be. For keeping Southbrook’s heart full of that word, yea “we love you man……..!”

Rob … not that this is related … and not that I am saying you have not been GREAT on many other weeks … cause you are always speaking from the Holy Spirit …

BUT … this week was GREAT! Your rabbit trail was necessary and excellent … I have had the numbers conversation many many many times … so now I have an even better way of talking about it … NUMBERS do matter … so now I am praying for 3000 in one weekend … not sure where we would put the kids if it happened … but the LORD will work it out!

GREAT Job in Listening to the LORD!

In HIS Service,
Mark

I love you man….ok after reading your blog I just had to say that…I am sure it is very exciting to see all these new faces. My husband and I are looking forward to the next 201 class. We missed the last one. Keep up the good work!

As I mentioned to you on Sunday, THANK YOU for saying EVERYTHING you said in your message. If your staff wants to bet you up Tuesday at the staff meeeting, tell them they have to get thru me first. I’m ready. But I know the staff and believe they were in awe of the “rabbit trail end run” and they know your heart and Southbrook’s needs.

Sadly enough, you have asked over and over to have the members and volunteers, ie; Mighty People, beat feet and MOVE out out the main building at 8:30am and go down to the video cafe’…. to make room for the “Hell bounders”…. there were only 10 or 12 of us down there at the 8:30am service, and many MP’s were up above??? I ask each one of you, why? Jesus went thru Holy hell for many hours for you, He got VERY uncomfortable for many hours for you, He gave His life for you, why can’t you get uncomfortable for Him? for others? For 1 hour?

Each one of you IS very special and very much loved. Will this post bring me anguish? NOT. I only have an audience of ONE to stand before.

In His love, Jay

This week was unbelievable! NASCAR All-Star Challenge on Saturday night and Rabbit trail speaking at its finest on Sunday morning!! Dude that just flat out rocked yesterday morning. Haven’t been to church on Sunday since who knows when (we go on Saturday’s) and I got to sit in the video cafe’ and watch ‘live via satellite’ one of Southbrooks best messages.

What inspires me each and every week is the sincerity that you have in your relationship with God. It motivates me to get to that level. The fact that you knew at 5:30am that God was speaking to you and telling you to change things blows me away every time! Listening to you talk about just those occasions challenges me to get to that level. You’ve told us how to do it and we just need to remain faithful and JUST DO IT!

There is a movement going on and this movement is going to change lives! Again, thanks for the challenges you gave us this week. And thanks for telling people with honesty and love, what they needed to hear. (If anyone says it wasn’t in love, it was probably them that you were talking to) The truth hurts, trust me I’ve learned that lesson over and over again. But once we soften our hearts (swallow pride) and listen to what was really said, we can then see that God is trying to mold us and shape us more into His image.

If any of you were ‘hurt’ by this weekends message, before you really get upset, really think about what God was saying to you. He wants you to be members of this great movement. He wants you to be on board with what He’s trying to do. He wants to use you His way and not yours, to do a great work for Him. We have to remind ourselves everyday that this life is not ABOUT US! It’s about God’s plan for us.

My husband John and I attended the 101 class yesterday and thought it was great! It seems likes a long day but the time just flew by. The kids
were so well taken care of, too.

We didn’t need to consider for a moment whether or not to call Southbrook our home.

I encourage anyone who has been on the fence about this to make the move and check out the next class! You won’t regret it!

Thank you again, Pastor Rob.

Alan Abbott says:

Rob, Great message(s) this weekend. I got to listen to all 4 and they were all great! I was challenged this weekend to pray even more for Southbrook. I hope others will join me in lifting up this church and our leaders at least daily. Bring ‘em on..we are ready to slay the Giants!!
