As ‘often as you do this,’ or ‘do this often’?

1 Corinthians 11:23-25 (New King James Version)

New King James Version (NKJV)

Institution of the Lord’s Supper

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat;[a] this is My body which is broken[b] for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

I’ve heard this scripture approached a couple different ways. Some say we learn from this that we should partake in communion ‘often’ others say we just need to remember what Christ did for us (as we partake) ‘as often as’ we take communion.

I say, ‘why aren’t we thinking of this 24/7?’

The last Wednesday of every month @ SCC is a ‘Night of Worship’ with music that is off the hook, and a time to gather for communion which is moving and powerful every time.

Come join us at 6:30 at Southbrook for this special (last of the school year) communion.

Especially of you haven’t been in a good while. It might help you with that ‘often’ stuff.

This for me is the most moving experience in my relationship with Christ. It is a time of reflection for the pain that was suffered that was my fault and for my benefit. It is a time of thanks and a time of renewal. It feels like the pain of good friday and the celebration of easter all within 15 minutes… I would suggest to anyone who has been away for awhile that now is the time for renewal

I love these nights! I am not sure why I don’t feel this way everyday but I think it is because we get beatin’ up everyday by the world. It is the most blessed time to come thank Jesus for what he has done. Be able to leave everything we have been carrying there and allow his love to make us whole. If you haven’t been I know that it is SO HARD to get kids, get dinner, and meet over at the church by 6:40pm (especially if you work uptown) but if you haven’t been it is SO WORTH IT! It is worth all the struggle, all the whining, all the rushing around to be able to walk out whole! Give it a try . . I Dare you! You will never be the same! You will crave this time!

Tonight’s service was absolutely amazing.

The gifts and talents God has given to the his people at Southbrook is incredible. The music was amazing and the words he gave Pastor Rob to share with us were strong and defining.

Tonight was one of the most emotionally connecting services I have attended at Southbrook.

Thanks be to God and to those that he has given us to worship with him. When you can spend time like that together, the bonds that make us a Church Family grow stronger than one can imagine.

I am so grateful to be a part of God’s Family and the Family we call Southbrook.
