Invasion

Tonight I had a close encounter of the 4th kind.

I don’t know what close encounters of the 1st and 2nd kind are and the movie made no sense to me, so I’m inventing my own category for what I witnessed tonight.

But, since, as they say, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words,’ take a look for yourself:

Pretty awesome, huh?

Hundreds and hundreds of kids!CIMG1400

Nearly a hundred volunteers…

And a whole host of parents looking like deer in the headlights as their little children entered the incredible “Planet Earth Zone.”

Hats off to M&M (Mary and Marty) our children’s ministry leaders and all of their sold out volunteers who put this thing together.

It’s flat out awesome!

And a wonderful lead in to our big back to school family series in late August called, “Planet Earth.”  the story of the family from beginning to end.

More about that later.

For now…

Got kids?

Get’em to Southbrook’s “Amazing Planet VBS.”

It’s not too late.

Yet.

Tomorrow night and all the rest of this week from 6:30 pm to 9:00.

They would love it, and, frankly, it’s down right cruel not to bring them.

Don’t make me call child services.

Cya there.

Hello, I am one of the volunteers and I think for the first night it went smoothly! I think the kids had a good time and I know my son actually slept to 7am today (he likes to get up at 5am) so he must have had some fun! Look forward to seeing everyone tonight!

I am so sad that we could not attend VBS this year. I just did not work out for us. Maybe next year. Looks like insanity there!

I really wish I could have been there this year supporting the rest of my team (children’s teachers) but I am backing you up with prayer :)

Rob, I know it was great for the kids … but it is even GREATER for the volunteers. It is such a thrill to see all of the kids faces as I am on stage pretending to be a geek …(I said PRETENDING to be a geek!) … it is so great to see them. And then to have a chance to walk around and see these kids rivited to what they are learing … The blessing is all MINE and I thank the LORD for it!

See you tonight …

WHAT A BLAST!!!! OK compared to my other worship leaders I AM AN OLD LADY (at 32)! We danced and led kids for 2 1/2 hours! I hurt so bad, was so sore, so tired, and SSSSOOO SWEATY I thought how am I going to do this for 4 more nights! But as I woke up this morning I am not a bit sore, tired, or sweaty (thank God)! Isn’t God amazing! I had so many people tell us that we dance well. Let me tell you this I look like a frog in a blender when I dance but when God dances through me IT’S ON! I prayed for weeks that God would shine through us and that all these kids would see him in all his glory. I think we have just touched the tip of the iceburg on this! What a wonderful experience! I have been so blessed to see each of the children (even the cool ones) dance, sing and participate with us! And it never seems to fail that when I see my kids giving God all the glory that I have a REAL hard time not burting into tears, but I held it together. It was one of the best sights I get to see! When I was a kid I couldn’t stand VBS but the stuff M&M brought together, IT ROCKS! If you aren’t part of this you are missing out! Come on Down!

Hey Mark…when I saw you walking the halls last night I wondered to myself, wow does that guy really dress like that…hey more power to him…then I heard you mention tape on the glasses and realized that it was all for “pretend”. I was going to have to call the Fashion Police after you!
