You Can’t Handle the Truth! Part 1

So many people say they want to get better…

Get smarter,

Become a better athlete,

Draw closer to God,

Make the world a better place

Stop poverty

End Terrorism

Take your pick. I got more!

The list goes on and on, but today I was wondering why so few of us ever get very far with these lofty goals.

As you probably guessed by now, I have a theory.

It’s multifaceted.

First, there is a difference between a vision that God wants accomplished and a dream that an ordinary person has.

I used to dream of being an Olympic downhill racer!

Not God’s vision for my life.

I used to dream of going somewhere with my guitar and singing!

Never got much past singing in the shower.

I used to dream of reaching thousands with the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is where the dram and the vision meshed!

As an Olympic skier I wanted to win a gold medal and stand on the podium giving glory to God.

That would have been fleeting.

As a Singer/Song writer/Guitar player extraordinaire, I could have uploaded some dribble to itunes maybe…

Not sure God would get anything out of that.

But, as the pastor He called me to be, in the city he called me to, at the most amazing church I’ve ever seen?

These verses become reality!

I can see Pastor Rob being most all of those things that he noted (the music ones are a bit far out there but I will play along). Yet had he not listened to what God called him to do, I can just imagine how many people would still be lost in this world, how many would have no hope, and how many in the weeks, months, years to come would have never even had the chance to accept Christ into their lives.

The more a person accepts and understand that everything positive we accomplish in our lives is a result of God working through us, the better our lives will become and the greater the rewards for not just doing a good job, but for doing a job and knowing God was guiding us.

The key is taking that leap of faith and 100% giving it to God and see what he does with your life.

Think of having the ultimate Coach that is always there to motivate and better yet can GIVE you not just advice, but GIVE you the skills and tools you need to accomplish anything he has planned for you.

The things I accomplish in my personal life when I don’t just let God in on the plan, but let him lead, are simply amazing. It could be as simple as a minor home repair I am unsure of or a major financial decision. When you let God give you the guidance and direction and allow yourself the time and patients to hear what he wants you to do, you will make the right choices and you will be rewarded in ways you never imagined.

I am so grateful Pastor Rob is doing what God called him to do and not just what Rob S. wanted to do……Because he is following God’s plan or him, my life is forever changed in a way I feel God wanted it to be…..

I am one that Loves the Truth. As long as the truth of God is involved or preached, I’m there. Now for the difficult reality of truth and the challenges that face the God following Christian, direction? Chasing a dream of being a Olympic Skier or a Singer/Song writer, what wrong with that? You could give God the gory for what he is doing in your walk and be a good witness in His name, right? What direction/path should we take?

I am searching for the true path.
