Get ready to IGNITE!

This weekend will be a concert to remember as Southbrook Church’s many praise and worship teams assemble to celebrate the release of their first CD, “Return.”

After that we begin what I believe will be one of the most life-changing series we’ve ever done at SCC…

IGNITE!

It will be a time where each and every one of us has the opportunity to zero in on our unique and corporate, Missions from God! So, will you help me get a better read on where we will begin by participating in the following polls?

Thanks, and remember, the more the merrier!*

Let’s start with this question:

Dee Langley says:

I don’t know if i feel any of those ways. I think the closest one would be that I am probably inconsistent with God but I think that is my human being self with God. I do pray and read everyday. Somedays I feel like I am just going through the motions, but other days I feel like I am hand in hand with God.

Stressed out Mom of ADHD Kid's says:

I do not spend time reading the word. I feel lost like I am wandering alone enven when I know God is in my heart working. Sometimes I feel life is just too much and that I have been left alone to struggle. I am a firm believer but I do not always walk the walk I stumble from time to time and sometimes end up face down doubting God’s love for such a sinner like me. I have a lot of faults and a lot of stressors that distance me from the relationship I know I need to have with God.

Christine Malone says:

I pray everyday, just not reading daily as I should. I can’t say inconsistent because he is definitly with me everyday. I stuggle with reading his word though.

Chris Hogan says:

I’d like to vote, but I can’t say that any of the available choices describes my relationship with God. :)

Matt Langley says:

What Dee and I do is start the morning with a modified Ephesians 6:10-18 declaration like:
Today I put on the full armor of God, shoes of peace, belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword which is the Word. To top it all off we put on our crown of favor that has been given to us by the most high God.
We go on with our day, acting as Christ’s personal representatives, we pray together, and then begin the task(s) before us. During the day we may read a devotional, listen to worship music, (which will be the Return Worship CD after Saturday ; ) or meditate on a piece of the Word. No matter what comes at us we remember Who we belong to, Who we work for, and that He has everything in the palm of his hand. At the end of the day we have been reading our one year bible, since January 1st (Yay!) and it has grown, strengthened, and deepened our relationship with the Father. I highly recommend getting a copy and starting immediately. It only takes fifteen minutes a day. Here is a link to the one we purchased - http://www.tyndale.com/products/details.asp?isbn=978-0-8423-2451-9
As I said, it only takes 15 minutes to read and you get a bit of the old and new testament as well as a psalm and a proverb. Consider it a spiritual value meal. It is quick, easy to read, and you cannot go wrong with the format of how the Word is presented in this one. It is great especially if you struggle with following, comprehending, or actually taking the time to read His Word.
I have heard it said that the most powerful prayer you can pray is “Father, use me to do your will”. If you dare to say it, and mean it with all your being, hold on for the ride of your life. Not saying it is going to be all roses and warm fuzzy puppy dogs, because you will come under attack, but you will be forever changed and His glorious light will shine through you. Rob, tell the staff that we pray with and for them every day, we are with you and the whole team. We can feel the coming explosion about to rock Weddington, Charlotte, the US, and the world. Looks like Southbrook is going to be at the epicenter and I cannot think of a better place to be at this time. Thank you Rob and a ginormous thank you to The Spirit that is moving in our church. We cannot hold it in anymore!

Amy C Helms says:

To choose one was hard. I feel like I am closer to God than I have been ever before, but I still have inconsistent periods. I have highs and lows with God usually when I am being like a testing child and wanting answers to questions that I know I must be patient with Him to show me. I do read and pray and pray and pray so I feel like I daily walk with Him. I know most of the time I feel like He carries me cause I haven’t got the strength to walk on my own. I have been learning to appreciate this and other forms of His discipline of me though and know that at times I need it more to understand Him so much more.

All I can say is WOW, what an example Dee and Matt. Thanks for sharing that.

[...] you can help us by voting in the first poll for the ignite series here. And then in the second poll [...]

Rob says:

Amy,

Keep on trying! And I would urge you to get in a small group ASAP. It’s easy to get out of the habit, but the long term affects almost always lead to distance from God and others.

Rob says:

Hi ADHD mom,

I may not be an ADHD mom, but I feel like an ADHDEFG dad a lot of times. May I suggest setting up a “protected” time for you and Jesus? Gather your kids together and tell them that this is your time with Jesus and that they can have certain things that they can do during that 30 minutes or so, but buggin you is not one of them.

Fight for this time with Jesus. Nothing is more important!

Rob says:

Thanks Langleys, for sharing some of your ideas regarding “time with Jesus”!
