Southbrook turns out THANK . FULL!
Wow! One of the biggest weekends ever as almost every service was packed! Saturday was big, 8:30 was huge! 10:00 in the main and the Cafe saw standing room only and if you thought it would let up at 11:30, you would have been wrong!
What a weekend, and it couldn’t be for a better cause!
Southbrook is THANK . FULL!
We are full of thanks for all the good things the Lord has dome in our midst this year.
We are very close to seeing more lives changed through the salvation power of Jesus Christ THIS YEAR than all previous years COMBINED!
Did you catch that, Gang?!
What’s happening at Southbrook church is not normal! Not by any stretch, and we know that our great God is behind it. We simply have the awesome privilege of coming alongside Him in the work He is already doing. Imagine that, partnering up with the God of the universe—joining hands with the one who made you to accomplish far more than any of us ever dreamed or even imagined. You can read about it here.
Want to know what I’m thankful for?
- Our awesome God!
- My incredible family
- My 12 year wedding anniversary (yesterday) <— inside joke.
- Southbrook Church
- Southbrook’s pastors and directors
- Southbrook’s many ministry leaders
- Southbrook’s hundreds of ministry volunteers (no greater army on earth!)
- A chance to give back to the community in a HUGE way.
- My favorite time of year—Christmas, as we celebrate Emmanuel!
- New friends and God’s growing family (800 new believers!!!).
There’s a whole lot more, but this is a start!
Thanks to everyone for turning out in such great numbers. And I hope you will stick with us as this series moves towards a climax that will rock this city!
And it will all be possible through hearts that are simply….Thank . Full!

I am thankful that this year God gave me the great gift of becoming a part of Southbrook. I had heard about the church for a long time, but the first time I met Rob for lunch before I preached there in March, I knew it was a special church that had been annointed to reach a city for the gospel. I pray for the church every day, and count it an honor to be a part of the team, even though I am not a resident of Charlotte (I might as well be, I live an hour away, but that is the same commute that many of my friends who live in North Charlotte make to work every day on 485). I cannot wait to be back in a few weeks and celebrate how good God has been to Southbrook.

While you were preaching yesterday I wrote the date down next to the give reverence to God during prayer. I want to remember when I started this. You know I have knelt to pray several times but never on a consistent basis. Well that all changed this morning. I have always wanted to pray before I did anything else in the day but with three kds to shove out the door it didn’t seem possible. Well I got up this morning and truly gave God not only his reverence but I gave him today. Thank you for helping me to grow! I am so amazed at what God has done for and with my family in the short time we have been at Southbrook!
Thank you again STAFF!!

There was a great little article on the front page of the Observer this weekend. It was about a woman that lived very modestly her whole life and raised three daughters working as a waitress. When she died, her family was surprised to find out that she had saved all of her tips over the years totalling $140,000! She gave all of the money away to her church, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and various other charities. The article was all about how she lived simply so that she could give generously. I’m thank . full for her example!

I’m thankful that after being told 4 years ago that we wouldn’t have children, we now have a precious 8 month old daughter that we adopted in April and are dedicating this weekend and also are pregnant with our second daughter due in February. I have a wonderful husband that works 2 jobs so we don’t have to put our children in daycare. God has truely blessed our lives!

I’m thankful for a God that is in control of EVERYTHING, especially when things don’t make sense. To know that he is in control during those times is a great blessing.
Also a big thanks to ALL of the bands at Southbrook who make mixing sound a pleasure and an honor to be a part of. You guys rock for Jesus!

I am so Thank-full for Christ, My Family, For Southbrook Church, for our Pastor who teaches, for the people I am meeting and bonding with, for all the little things we so often take advantage of or over-look as ordinary. (the sunrise, the rain, the birds, the flowers, the lakes, our house, our jobs, the smiles, sharing, pain, grief, laughter, growth, love, compromise, the sunset,,,,etc)
To many to list but you get the point..
God continually amazes me with each new day at the Love he shares with me each moment that I let him… I mean lets face it we often get in the way of God…. but when we let God be God he is AWESOME and the rewards are plenty…
Thank -Full for all this and so much more….

I am so thankful for Him. Without Him, I am dead - spiritually and perhaps physically. The list of ways He has shown His favor are countless and could never be contained in a single email or a million. However, let’s try a one minute list.
Beyond Him, His Son, Holy Spirit, His Word, and His Church, here goes: my wife of ten plus years, my two boys, our beautiful home here, the warm weather with little to no snow, friends like Tony and Alisa, Kip and Annette, Todd and Michelle, all of the folks in our home group, Lisa - a fellow teacher and friend who God saved from cancer last year, all of the wonderful students and parents I have had over the past three years here in North Carolina, … Okay, the minute is up. I should learn to type faster. That remains me, having all of my mental and physical capacities intact even the fact that I am legally half-deaf.
Praise and thanks be to God!!!

After hearing Rob’s message yesterday I wanted to try praying on my knees. I think I have a healthy prayer life, consistently set aside devotional time, and work on ways to strengthen my walk with Jesus every day. After praying on my knees last night and this morning the area of prayer just went to a whole new level. I thanked Him for our church and ALL the leaders, our family, our wealth, the skills and abilities he has given us, and many more things. Suddenly I was overwhelmed with something I cannot describe in words. A few that would come close would be awe, reverence, overwhelming joy, brokenness, humility, and love. I know it sounds like a whirlwind of emotions but it was more than just that, He showed up big time. I was not expecting that but I am so glad that door to an even deeper connection with His Spirit was opened. I am thankful for you Rob. Thank you for sharing your heart, and rituals, with us. I would also like to thank you and the whole staff for opening your lives for His fame, His will to be done, and to reach out, touch, and move us all. Cannot wait to see what is next.

Well I did it last night. I went to bed and was laying there…then I got out of bed and on my knees. It did feel strange but yet right. I thanked God for my family, my church and most of all I thanked him from bringing us from our small town in Orange County, NY to Charlotte, NC. He had a plan and every sunday when I sit at Southbrook he reminds me of it.
