Champions of the Week!
Tonight I was tremendously blessed at the “New York Mission Trip” service!”
I have to say I have been to a lot of youth events in my day (having been in youth work for years before starting Southbrook) but rarely have I witnessed such hearts for God as I did tonight!
Not only did our youth put […]

Heads Up!
There’s a lot going on right now at Southbrook Church. Last weekend was the biggest attended weekend we’ve had for this time of year—up significantly from last year! A lot of it is due to the buzz of the new building going up!
Finally!
And the answer is, YES, the building will be ready by late August […]

The Joseph Factor
I’m in the later chapters of Genesis right now in my Quiet Time. It’s all about the life of Joseph (definitely one of my very favorite biblical personalities).
He’s actually a ‘type of Christ’ and the similarities with him and Jesus are perhaps more vivid than with any other Old Testament person.
Think about it:
He was despised […]

One Month to Live
We’ve been asking the question for several weeks now. What would you do if you knew you only had one month to live?
You can click here to place your vote and/or see what most others have said in response to this highly important life question.
Today I read again the words of CS Lewis as […]

Sideliners
You only look like you’re in the game.
After yesterday’s message I had some folks express concern that they might be “inoculated Christians.”
It’s sounds good.
Safe.
Comfortable and protected.
It’s not. It means you have just enough of the real thing to keep you from ever getting the real thing.
Just enough of the flu (as in the tiny amount […]

No marching orders ’till ya march!
God gives specifics while we’re moving.
Ever notice on the Tour De France that there are cars and motorcycles and all kinds of other vehicles following alongside this massive parade of 10–speeds? Actually, these new bikes probably have about 50 speeds, but that’s what we called them growing up.
What are these moving entourages up to?
They are […]

One Month to Man Up!
Tomorrow morning it’s time to gather once again to take up the mantle of godly leadership!
On the FIRST Monday of each month the men of Southbrook (along with their co-workers and neighbors and friends) gather in the Video Cafe for a charge from God on how to lead in this confusing, often godless culture.
When? […]

I’d add one more thing
Perry Noble recently came up with a list of the top “Six Temptations Senior Pastors Face.”
He then went on to list seven. So much for his math skills. His list, however, was spot on. Mine would be nearly identical with a couple exceptions.
#1 - Selling Out God’s Vision In Exchange For A Paycheck.
I […]

Lazy Bones Jones
I read yesterday that dogs sleep on the average, 13–16 hours a day!
Sadly, I know some humans who are not far behind. This would drive me crazy! I would never sleep if I could get away with it. There is so much to do in life I almost regret the nighttime ritual that deprives me […]

Knowledge verses Understanding
“Don’t lay a hand on the boy” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from Me even your son, your only son.” Genesis 22:12
“Now I know?”
Question? Didn’t God almighty already know this?
This passage was in a recent quiet […]
